7th grade math

7th graders study fractions, decimals, percents, proportions, pre-algebra, geometry and statistics. Each topic is outlined below.

Number system:

  • This is the explanation of Common Core number work expectations for 7th grade from the site Illustrative Math:

    • Apply and extend previous understanding of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply and divide to divide rational numbers. (This includes work with negative numbers.)

(If you would like to see a more detailed explanation of each bullet, click here and navigate to 7th grade Number System.)

  • We also review the following topics:

    • adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fraction and decimal numbers

Ratios and Proportional Relationships:

  • This is the explanation of Common Core ratio and proportion work expectations for 7th grade from the site Illustrative Math:

    • Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
